About this project

A mountain retreat where architecture meets the landscape. Designed to enhance the natural beauty of the Serra Gaúcha, the São Francisco de Paula House combines wood, natural stone, large window frames, and expansive living spaces in an architecture that conveys warmth, grandeur, and a connection with nature. Spanning approximately 300 m², the project was conceived for large plots and mountainous landscapes, leveraging the natural slope of the terrain to create different levels and a siting integrated into the surroundings. The residence's main volume is defined by its exposed timber structure, pitched roof, and large glazed openings, allowing the landscape to become part of the interiors. Walls and chimneys clad in natural stone reinforce the mountain house identity and create a welcoming atmosphere throughout all seasons. One of the project's highlights is the large elevated veranda, which extends along the social area, creating a privileged space to contemplate the landscape, host guests, or simply enjoy the tranquility of the mountains. The architecture also emphasizes the integration between indoor and outdoor spaces, resulting in a residence that functions as both a family country home and a special refuge for weekends, vacations, and moments of rest. 🌲 A home designed for contemplation. More than just a residence, this project was envisioned as an experience of living in the mountains: waking up surrounded by nature, gathering around the fireplace, enjoying the veranda, and transforming the landscape itself into a part of the house. The São Francisco de Paula House translates the encounter between architecture, comfort, and nature into a project designed to become a true sanctuary.
